Do you have a toilet?
Yes, we have a disabled toilet with an alarm. There’s also a baby-changing table.
I am a wheelchair user - how can I get up your step?
We have a ramp for you.

Why that particular shade of green?
I wanted racing green, but some expensive panels that I ordered early in the refurb turned out quite yellow-green compared to what I was expecting. Coherence was important to me, so I embraced the yellow-green. (When life gives you limes … make limeade!)
Can you see my NHS records?
Unfortunately not.
None of your advertised hours are convenient - what else can you offer?
Dr. Rupert is available some mornings and evenings, by prior arrangement - please just contact us to let us know what you have in mind.
Do you see children and babies?
Yes
Is there a unifying framework behind the services you offer — or is it just whatever you feel like?
The unifying thread is medical advice/treatment from a GP. Other services are to complement that.
Can I just have a blood test without a consultation?
We don’t offer standalone blood tests. If you’d like one without a consultation, providers such as Randox Health can arrange this directly. (We might make an exception to facilitate treatment at a provider that’s not located nearby.)
Do you do weight loss treatments?
Not at present. Try Dr. Sally’s clinic at SDS Rejuvenate MediSpa, which is well established and just eight doors up Banks Road.
Do you do immunisations?
No - try a friendly pharmacy.
Do you do ear irrigation?
No - Hidden Hearing in Greasby are reliable and independent.
Do you prescribe diazepam?
Not as a rule, no. We provide medical answers to medical problems, and diazepam is seldom the answer to a medical problem.
Do you treat addiction?
Smoking? Not usually. I want to offer really high quality services and it would be impossible to beat ABL Health, who were recognised in 2021 as the top provider nationally, out of 169 local smoking cessation services. If they recommend prescription only medications (varenicline or cytisine) they contact your NHS GP, and after a quick safety check, they’ll do an NHS prescription. You can also obtain nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) from pharmacies without a prescription.
Drugs and alcohol? Never. Managing alcohol or drug dependence is a specialised service, requiring a team of keyworkers, counsellors and prescribers. If you need help, the right places to start are:
- Wirral Ways to Recovery (Change Grow Live) - the local service, commissioned by Wirral Council, free at the point of access
- The Priory Group - if you’d prefer private care
We’re happy to discuss alcohol or drug use as part of a wider consultation, and to support you alongside specialist treatment where appropriate — but the treatment itself needs to be by the experts.
Do you prescribe medical cannabis?
No, never.
Do we do mental capacity assessments for solicitors?
Yes, if it’s a straightforward case. (If it’s a straightforward case, it ought not be necessary - but where a solicitor lacks the confidence to do so, or where their firm’s risk appetite requires a formal report, we’d rather a patient pay a modest GP fee than face an unnecessary referral to a private psychiatrist. We don’t charge more than the standard consultation / home visit fee.)
Can you provide a sick note?
Not exactly - a Statement of Fitness for Work (aka. sick note, fit note) cannot be issued outside the NHS.[1] We can provide a private medical certificate, which your employer may accept as equivalent medical evidence.
