Dr. Rupert Millard

Rupert is a GP with particular interests in dermatology, respiratory medicine, and therapeutics. He trained in the West Midlands after graduating in Medicine from the University of Birmingham, where he also earned a BMedSc in Clinical Sciences. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutics (with distinction), a Diploma in Child Health, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Dermatology.

He relocated to West Kirby in 2015 for family reasons. He’s worked in a few practices as a salaried GP & partner, in GP OOH and contributed to primary care leadership through service on the Wirral Local Medical Committee.

Since 2024, Rupert has worked in Acute Medicine at Wirral University Teaching Hospital. A GP in Acute Medicine brings a distinct lens in a pressured system — where some patients arrive after a long and complicated journey, and the most important diagnosis is not “what’s wrong?” but “what matters?” Rupert enjoys the teamwork, the challege / learning, and the satisfaction of sometimes sending someone safely home rather than deeper into hospital.

Rupert founded Dee GP to offer unhurried, attentive general practice — a place where concerns can be explored properly rather than squeezed into a five-minute slot. He enjoys getting to the bottom of complex problems, applying evidence carefully, and translating medical nuance into clear decisions with patients.

Outside medicine, Rupert has a long-standing interest in computing and occasionally attempts to prove that learning Haskell counts as “relaxation”. He used to run more than he does now — he completed the London Marathon in 2025 — but recent niggles and small-business life have proved a more persistent endurance event. He is a keen supporter of choral music and is quietly delighted that his eldest daughter shares his musical streak.

He and his wife — a consultant urologist, which makes for very “on-brand” dinner-table chat — are raising their family in West Kirby, happily close to the sea and to the practice.
